B&W Studio PROJECT: 75TH ANNIVERSARY ANNUAL APPEAL DESIGNERS: LEE BRADLEY, STEVE WILLS AT B&W STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHER: JOHN ANGERSON CLIENT: ST. GEORGE'S CRYPT PAPER FACTS: STOCK GF SMITH COLORPLAN 270GSM SIZE 300 X 222MM (11 13/16 X 8 3/4IN) PRINT TECHNIQUES ONE-COLOR OFFSET LITHO ADDITIONAL TECHNIQUES SILVER-FOIL BLOCKING PRINTER HARROGATE PRINT LTD. St George’s Crypt is a Leeds-based charity that provides shelter and advice to homeless, rootless, and disadvantaged people. For their 75th-anniversary appeal, they asked B&W Studio to create a mailer that would help raise £750,000 (US $1.5 million). Using simple typography and layout on eight different colors of GF Smith Colorplan paper, the solution centers on the house-shaped outline formed by an open envelope that was to be used to send in a donation. The strapline “Help put a roof over somebody’s head” ties the whole concept together. The piece won gold in the Direct Mail section of the Roses Design Awards 2005. |
