Notes from Michael Wolff & Patrick Burgoyne discussion Part 1

We finally arrived at the Liverpool John Moore building to the Michael Wolf lecture. Surrounded by professionals from different advertising and design agencies.
The question were set by Patrick Burgoyne of creative review on the quality and value of the proliferation of graphic marks and logos - especially those sold to cities.

what is a good designer?
some one who has inquisitiveness which leads to appreciation to then a good imagination. He described them as muscles as they only worked it they worked together.
what id good design?
He stated that good designers don't know what good design is we as a society ' understand what an agreement system of what is good is we should be producing work to be liked and be effective yet don't understand what liked is and what it means?

Olins & Wollf
Olins challenged what good design was together Wolff and Olins challenged the conventions of agreed upon good design.
He talked about bold design as been aggrogant yet it can be humble

Talking about large agencies how people manage not lead design agencies within the city how we do not look into basic human communication. looking into how the brain works what we need to do to make work have boldness effectiveness. we are al human and we need to compromise and with people.
